Who we are

Chi Sigma Tau’s Gamma Chapter was chartered at the University of Illinois – Urbana-Champaign on December 3, 2006 by eight amazing gentlemen: Christopher “Chili” Cho, Iljeen “Sumo” Jo, Andrew “Burnz” Kwon, Henny “Sassoon” Lee, Albert “Recall” Lin, Jason “Captain Hero” Rhee, Tony “Fudd” Yang, Adam “Dopey” Yin. These men have paved the way for future generations, leaving an indelible mark on Chi Sigma Tau’s Gamma Chapter. Their commitment to the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship, and community has set a standard of excellence that resonates through the years. Over the past decade and more, the Gamma Chapter has blossomed into a vibrant and dynamic community, thanks to the enduring legacy of its founding members.

CST’s VISION

Chi Sigma Tau Fraternity is a traditional social fraternity operating on the lodge system. We are an Asian Interest Fraternity. We have both a collegiate and alumni group. Our members take a life-long pledge of loyalty to the Fraternity. During the undergraduate years, members partake in numerous programs that culminate them into a more well rounded man – from a social aspects at formal functions to the business aspects of running a chapter. Both will be vital to their success after graduation, members will participate in the Alumni Association and work with fellow alumni to improve the collegiate chapters as well as their community. By doing so, they further foster their bond of brotherhood.

Although the fraternity stresses Asian culture and values, it does not discriminate against people of non-Asian descent nor do we seek to inhibit their participation in Chi Sigma Tau events. The Fraternity has grown throughout the years; from a single chapter with ten original Brothers to eight strong chapters with over 400+ brothers. It continues to grow and evolve. As more chapters are established, more ideas are incorporated. As more Brothers are forged, the stronger the bond, the bigger the network.

Chi Sigma Tau takes pride in being one of a few Asian Interest Fraternities to have involved an insurance policy. We take the well-being of our members seriously and wish to see ho harm come to them. Most universities will require a fraternity to provide proof of insurance before they can even petition to be established on campus. Before you decide on a fraternity, be sure to see that they are insured. It’s not only for their sake but yours.

OUr PHIlANTHROPY

Our Philanthropy of choice is the Alzheimer’s Association. The Alzheimer’s Association is a leading voluntary health organization focused on Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Founded in 1980, the association’s mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's through the advancement of research, provide care and support for those affected, and reduce the risk of dementia through brain health promotion. The Alzheimer’s Association funds critical research to better understand the disease’s causes, early detection methods, and potential treatments. It plays a pivotal role in leading large-scale studies and clinical trials aimed at finding a cure or delaying the progression of Alzheimer’s. They also offer a variety of services, such as a 24/7 Helpline, support groups, and educational programs for caregivers and those living with Alzheimer’s. It aims to create community networks that empower families navigating the challenges of caregiving and cognitive decline.

We partake in helping and assisting the Alzheimer’s Association in many ways from volunteering at their Walk to End Alzheimer’s charity event, hosting our own fundraising events to help fund the Alzheimer’s Association. One example of an event that the Brothers of Chi Sigma Tau hosted is the annual Stroll for Tomorrow competition. Hosted by the Epsilon Chapter of Chi Sigma Tau at Wichita State University, this event is a stroll competition. An event centered around the performance style of “Strolling”, a form of dance originating from African dance that has become one of the staples of Multicultural Greeks.
